Our story
The Wild Flamingo makes sculptural resin pieces by hand in South Africa: bowls, trays and candle vessels that bring colour and character to the rituals of home.
Where it began
The Wild Flamingo grew from a love of making things that feel a little different. Pieces with colour, character and personality that don’t take themselves too seriously.
I’m Nicole, the creator behind The Wild Flamingo. My background is in design and photography, so I’ve always been drawn to colour, form and the little details that can completely change how something feels. What started as experimenting and making things by hand gradually became a space where I could step away from the screen and create something tangible.
Today, The Wild Flamingo is evolving into a collection of statement pieces for the home. Sculptural bowls, trays and candle pieces that are as useful as they are beautiful. I love the idea that the same bowl can hold a candle today, perfume tomorrow or simply sit on a shelf looking rather lovely.
Every piece starts with a colour idea and takes on a personality of its own as it’s poured. That’s part of the fun. Patterns move, colours settle differently and no two pieces come out exactly the same.
They’re not meant to be perfect copies of one another.
They’re meant to be yours.
How it is made
Resin rewards patience. Each stage takes time, and every piece is checked before it leaves the studio.
01
Every batch starts with a palette, mixed and tested until the tones sit well together.
02
Resin is poured by hand, so the colour moves and settles in its own way each time.
03
Once cured, each piece is released, shaped and sanded smooth, edge by edge.
04
A final check and polish, then it is wrapped carefully and sent on to you.
Handmade in South Africa
Poured, sanded and finished by hand, right here in South Africa.
Small batch
Made in small runs, so every piece gets the time and care it deserves.
Each piece unique
No two pours settle the same way. Yours will be one of a kind.
